Courtyard by Marriott Bloomington by Mall of America

I’m currently here for work for the week and let me be the first to tell you that if my company didn’t foot the bill for this stay, I would most certainly be getting a refund and finding a new place to stay. I’ll start with the “wifi”. 4gb of upload speed and 3gb of download… unacceptable for anybody who needs to utilize their devices (cell phone, laptop, tablet) due to poor service. Also very unfortunate that because my company paid for the room, I’m completely unable to upgrade to the “enhanced wifi” due to there policy of up charges to the room. Granted I’m sure that’s my company policy, not Marriot, it’s still quite unacceptable that there isn’t service in the first place. Secondly, when I awoke after my first night stay and was doing some morning stretching, I noticed a bottle in between the bed and nightstand. When I grabbed the bottle it was an OPEN BOTTLE OF MILK that spilled on the floor left by the previous guests that wasn’t cleaned up by the staff. Keep in mind I do not drink milk and was completely taken aback by this. Lastly, the smoke detector battery wasn’t changed or checked prior to my check in. I went 2 days with a loud chirp going off every 45 mins throughout the night, keeping me awake or waking me up. My work performance has struggled due to these unfortunate events and I’m certain I will demand another hotel if I have to come back here for work. That being said, all of the staff are pretty friendly and understanding. They all apologized but their apologies won’t get my job done, or help my lack of performance due to their lack of attention.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable, but doors slamming in the hall are quite audible. The exercise room was great, a nice variety and all of the equipment was operational. The staff were friendly, but the building may have a box elder bug problem as we noticed many of them during our stay. Regardless, I would recommend and would stay here again.

Good service. Rooms were alright; however, adjoined doors wouldn't stay open. The kids couldn't move freely between the two rooms. My gripe is regarding parking... Ypu have to pay $10/night to park in their parking lot. Its $20/night to if you want to park underground. They have a large above-ground parking lot, with plenty of room for guests --- The parking should be free.
